Bayern Munich secured their 23^rd Bundesliga title on Saturday by winning 1 – 0 away to Eintracht Frankfurt.

With six games to spare it was the quickest ever title win in German league history and left nearest challengers, Dortmund a massive 20 points behind. The German giants have lost only once this season, conceding a mere 13 goals in the process.

Their veteran coach, Jupp Heynckes will be replaced by Pep Guardiola next season and he will leave a huge vacuum, which will become even greater if, as expected Bayern progress to the Champions League final and claim the German Cup. No German team has ever won this treble of competitions.

Bayern are looking like the FC Hollywood of old with a healthy mix of home-grown talent and foreign stars. Guardiola will be given a huge budget to recruit and has already been linked with Dortmund striker, Robert Lewandowski and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez. The further strengthening of a stellar squad may see Bayern dominate domestically and in the Champions league.

However, the Guardiola appointment is not without risk. His Barca style tactics may not suit the Bayern way of football and like many Euro powerhouses there will be some huge egos to contend within the Allianz Arena-not only the players but the tribe of outspoken directors, presidents and figure heads.

Bavaria may not be as comfortable as Catalonia for Pep and many in Munich may be thinking  “if it is not broken, why fix it”.
